About the event

Patty Prewitt, the longest-serving female prisoner in Missouri, was freed by outgoing Gov. Mike Parsons in December 2024. While in prison, she earned two associate of arts degrees and is a published author, poet and playright. In May, she will receive a bachelor of science degree in humanities through Washington University's Prison Education Project. These educational and creative challenges, she claims, kindled her positive identity and hopeful spirit.
