April program features Tony Messenger, P-D columnist

Tony Messenger, metro columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, will speak at 10 a.m. on April 17, 2021, in an online program hosted by Missouri Professional Communicators. The topic is Profit and Punishment: How America Criminalizes Poverty in the Name of Justice, and will discuss Missouri's debtors prisons.

In 2019, Messenger was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for commentary regarding his series about debtors prisons. The MPC program, moderated by Jessica Brown, picks up that conversation with Tony. Brown is a member of MPC and the St. Louis Press Club.


A special invitation is extended to high school and college journalism students.
